Dynamic 2WD racer that dominated 1/12 on-road – now back with full force!

In the 1980s, the 1/12 scale was the epicenter of electric on-road R/C racing, dominated by Kyosho's Fantom EP-4WD series. At the same time, the Fantom enjoyed fierce rivalry with Kyosho's rear-wheel-drive, 2WD Plazma series. The final and ultimate Plazma model was the MKIII Limited, released in 1987. More than 30 years later, it returns as part of the Kyosho Vintage Series! Like the other Vintage Series models, the reborn Plazma MKIII Limited stays true to the original design but receives modern updates for current R/C systems and power sources. This allows you to relive the glory of the 1980s – combined with the power and performance of modern racing technology!
Although some components are shared with the Fantom EP-4WD Ext, the Plazma's simple structure is lighter and, on tracks with sufficient grip, faster than the Fantom. Like the original from 1987, the new Plazma MKIII Limited also features a carbon fiber main chassis. The formerly black FRP top plate and A-frame joint bar are now also made of carbon fiber. The rear differential has been upgraded to the same high-performance ball differential used in the Fantom EP-4WD Ext Kyosho 60th Anniversary Model (2023). The front retains the simple kingpin and coil design with adjustable caster angle, and now includes two kingpin diameters for precise handling adjustment. The α-2 open cockpit and aerobody shape are faithfully reproduced, and all aluminum parts are finished in Kyosho Works silver. Classic 1/12 on-road racer in the style of the 1980s: simple rear-wheel drive 2WD concept with king-pin suspension at the front and 3-point rear suspension in A-bar configuration.

Includes black front and rear wheels from the Fantom EP-4WD Ext 60th Anniversary Model. Since the tires are already glued and machined in the kit, no further work with a tire setter is necessary.

Kingpin and spring system with springs at the top of the steering knuckle. Steering characteristics are adjusted via caster angle using kingpin diameter or set screws. Additional stability is possible by offsetting the wheel axle behind the kingpin.

The steering servo is attached to the main chassis via a special plate and an aluminum mount (instead of double-sided adhesive tape/fiberglass tape as in the original). This allows the use of modern servo sizes without altering the chassis's flex characteristics.

A lightweight, very stiff carbon upper plate is standard. The oil damper features a dial system for easy adjustment of the spring preload.

The A-bar, made of highly flexible black FRP plate, serves as the rear suspension and simultaneously supports the rear axle unit.

Includes a modified motor mount (540-compatible) based on the modern Fantom EP-4WD Ext. By replacing the rear shaft adapter, 1 mm wheelbase and 1.3 mm ground clearance adjustments are possible.

A newly installed ball differential unit (not present on the original Plazma) provides increased traction stability through its LSD effect. Special wheel bolts secure the right wheels; aluminum parts feature the Plazma's signature silver finish.

A 6mm rear shaft made of lightweight, high-rigidity carbon is standard. It supports the ball differential and offers high impact resistance.

The high-precision left rear wheel hub uses the same double-screw clamping mechanism (silver finish) as the Fantom EP-4WD Ext 60th Anniversary Model and prevents loosening during operation.

The original Plazma MK.III body, known for its sharp steering response, has been replicated for the new model and comes with a separate rear wing for more grip on the rear tire.
